After welding the tail feathers together be sure that frame is flat and not twisted. Also check to see that all tubes are contoured properly and not warped by welding. Heat structure as required to properly flatten and straighten.
Tubes in all welded areas can be straightened as shown below.
Heat red hot about 1″ long and on opposite side of welded area.
After cooling
This photo shows one of the horizontal stabilizers in the jig after welding. This is the best way to check to see that all dimensions have been held after welding.
