The 4-Place and Patrol have 1/4” wires, and the LSA has 3/16″ wires.
For the 4-Place and Patrol:
Take a 36-inch ruler and center it on the tensioned upper wires. Using a spring scale, pull 15 lbs of pres-sure in the middle and measure the deflection of the wire and away from the straight edge/ruler. At the 15 lbs of pull you should see about 3/8 inch deflection of the wire.
For the LSA:
To set the correct tension for the LSA, place a 3 foot straight edge on the wire an pull the wire perpendicular to 10 lbs – it should deflect 1/2 inch from the straight edge for the correct tension.
Tension to high may overload the structure, or bind your controls and make them stiff. Tension too loose can cause the wires to vibrate too much.
